Is follistatin 344 FDA-approved?
Not approved by the FDA. Products sold online as "research chemicals" aren't checked for purity, sterility or dose.
Is follistatin 344 banned in sport?
Banned in sport by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Overview
Follistatin binds and neutralizes myostatin and activins. Mice with more follistatin grow much more muscle. A small phase 1/2 gene-therapy trial delivered the FS344 gene into thigh muscles of six men with Becker muscular dystrophy; four walked farther. Injected follistatin peptides sold online haven't been studied in people.
How it works
By trapping myostatin and activins, it takes the brakes off muscle growth.
How long does follistatin 344 stay in the body?
Not established for injected peptide.
What it's studied for
- Muscular dystrophy (gene therapy)
- Muscle growth in animals
