mg to mL calculator
Type the amount and the strength from your vial's label. You get the mL, and the units on a U-100 syringe.
mL = mg ÷ strength (mg/mL), and units = mL × 100
This does arithmetic on the numbers you type. It doesn't suggest a dose. Check the result with your prescriber or pharmacist.
Worked example
1 mg ÷ 2.5 mg/mL = 0.4 mL, which is 40 units on a U-100 syringe.
How the math works
Strength says how much is in each mL, so mL = amount ÷ strength. mcg and mg are turned into one unit first. Then units = mL × 100, because U-100 means 100 units in each mL.
It's the same code the PepBloom app runs, and it runs in your browser. Nothing you type leaves this page.
Questions
How do I convert mg to mL?
Divide the mg by the strength in mg/mL. 1 mg at 2.5 mg/mL is 0.4 mL.
Can I convert mg to mL without the strength?
No. A mg is an amount of medicine and a mL is a volume. The strength on the label is what links them, and it differs from vial to vial.
How many units is 0.4 mL?
40 units on a U-100 syringe. Mixing up mL and units is one of the errors FDA has warned about.
