Worked example

Take the pill at 7:00 AM and tap the button. The timer ends at 7:30 AM, and from then the labels allow food, drinks and other pills.

What the labels say

The Rybelsus label says to take the tablet "on an empty stomach in the morning with water (up to 4 ounces of water)", then: "After taking RYBELSUS or OZEMPIC tablets, wait at least 30 minutes before eating food, drinking beverages or taking other oral medications."

The Wegovy label, for Wegovy tablets: "After taking a WEGOVY tablet, wait at least 30 minutes before eating food, drinking beverages or taking other oral medications."

Questions

Why wait 30 minutes after the Wegovy pill?

The pill is absorbed mostly in the stomach. In a study both labels describe, more semaglutide was absorbed the longer people waited before eating; waits of 15, 30, 60 and 120 minutes were tested. The labels set at least 30 minutes (Wegovy, Rybelsus).

Can I drink coffee during the wait?

Not by the labels. Both say to wait at least 30 minutes before drinking beverages, and the Rybelsus label says to take the tablet with water only, up to 4 ounces.

Does Foundayo need a wait?

No. Foundayo (orforglipron) is a different GLP-1 pill, and its label says to take it with or without food.
