BMI calculator for GLP-1 labels
Type your height and weight in US or metric units. You get your BMI and its CDC adult category. Below, each label's own wording, quoted.
BMI = weight in kg ÷ (height in m)²
This does arithmetic on the numbers you type. It can't tell whether a medicine is right for you. Ask your prescriber.
Worked example
5 ft 6 in is 66 inches, or 1.676 m. 190 lb is 86.2 kg. 86.2 ÷ 1.676² = a BMI of 30.7.
How the math works
BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in meters, squared. US units are turned into metric first: 1 inch is 2.54 cm and 1 kg is 2.2046 lb, the same factor the PepBloom app uses for weight. The categories are the CDC's adult BMI categories.
It runs in your browser. Nothing you type leaves this page, and nothing is saved.
What the labels say
The Zepbound label (section 1): "to reduce excess body weight and maintain weight reduction long term in adults with obesity or adults with overweight in the presence of at least one weight-related comorbid condition." The Foundayo label uses the same words.
The Wegovy label (section 1), for the injection: "adults and pediatric patients aged 12 years and older with obesity" and "adults with overweight in the presence of at least one weight-related comorbid condition."
The labels' section 1 doesn't give BMI numbers. Their weight trials (section 14) enrolled adults with obesity, a BMI of 30 or more, or with overweight, a BMI of 27 to under 30, plus at least one weight-related condition (Zepbound, Study 1; Wegovy, Study 2). The CDC's overweight range is wider, 25 to under 30.

Questions
What BMI do you need for Zepbound?
The Zepbound label names obesity, or overweight with at least one weight-related condition, without a number in section 1. Its weight trial enrolled adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 to under 30 with such a condition. Your prescriber decides.
What BMI is required for Wegovy?
The Wegovy label uses the same words: obesity, or overweight with at least one weight-related condition. Its main weight trial enrolled a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 to 29.9 with such a condition. Ask your prescriber.
Is BMI the only factor?
No. The CDC calls BMI a screening measure to weigh with other factors, and the labels also ask about weight-related conditions. Your prescriber looks at the whole picture.
