How much protein on a GLP-1? Calculator
Type your weight and pick a g/kg value. You get grams of protein a day, next to the RDA and the higher range a 2025 joint advisory on GLP-1 nutrition mentions.
Protein in grams a day = weight in kg × the g/kg you pick
This multiplies your weight by the g/kg you pick. It isn't a diet plan. Ask your prescriber or a dietitian what suits you.
Worked example
180 lb is 81.6 kg. At 1.2 to 1.6 g/kg that is 98 to 131 g a day, and at the 0.8 g/kg RDA it is 65 g.
How the math works
Weight in pounds is turned into kilograms with the factor the PepBloom app uses (1 kg is 2.2046 lb), then multiplied by the g/kg you pick and rounded to the gram.
The advisory says it is unclear whether to use actual weight, an adjusted weight or lean mass for people with obesity, and that actual weight can overstate the need. This page uses the weight you type.
It runs in your browser. Nothing you type leaves this page, and nothing is saved.
Where the range comes from
A 2025 joint advisory from the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the American Society for Nutrition, the Obesity Medicine Association and The Obesity Society (Am J Clin Nutr): "For the general adult population, the recommended daily allowance for protein is 0.8 g/kg/d". It adds: "Higher targets, such as 1.2–1.6 g/kg/d, have also been proposed during active weight reduction".
It also says intake shouldn't fall below 0.4 to 0.5 g/kg or stay at 2 g/kg or more for long, mentions a fixed 80 to 120 g a day as an easier target, and notes there is no consensus on the best approach. The picker stays inside the 0.8 to 1.6 range it names. Checked against the full text on Nov 6, 2026.
Questions
How much protein should I eat on a GLP-1?
There's no single number. The 2025 joint advisory cites the 0.8 g/kg RDA for adults and higher targets of 1.2 to 1.6 g/kg proposed during weight loss. Ask your prescriber or a dietitian which suits you.
Should I use my current weight or goal weight?
The advisory says there's no consensus: actual weight can overstate the need for people with obesity, and lean mass may be more accurate but needs a body scan. Type the weight your dietitian uses.
Why is protein harder on a GLP-1?
The advisory notes that a smaller appetite can make enough protein hard to reach. Tracking it helps you see where you are.
